Well well well! 63 games down, and just the final to come! Tonight is the big one – Germany vs Argentina. Before the tournament my pick was Argentina, but to be fair the way they have played I did not expect them to come this far. Hopefully it should be a cracker tonight, with plenty of goals and action. 4 years ago there was just one goal, this year there should be more. Here’s our thoughts on the game:
Argentina vs Germany
If the game was played on paper, this would be one full of goals and action. Germany seem to have reverted to using three proper midfielders, and using Lahm at the back, giving the option of Kroos playing, which worked out quite well last time out. Hummels came off for the 2nd half with tendonitis, but should feature. The lineups will be interesting – Germany started Klose, and put Muller wide. Ozil didn’t impress too much, so could we see Andre Schurrle from the start? Here’s my Germany team:
Neuer, Lahm, Mertersacker, Hummels, Howedes, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Khedira, Schurrle, Klose, Muller
As for the Argentines, will Di Maria feature? How about Aguero? He could replace either Lavezzi or Higuain. Rojo completed a full training session after a knock, but the rest of the squad is okay to play. According to reports, Di Maria will not start but will feature from the bench. Here is their expected team:
Romero, Zabaleta, Garay, Demichelis, Rojo, Perez, Mascherano, Biglia, Aguero, Messi, Higuain
They say always stick with your gut. And for me, that was Argentina. Argentina + BTTS is an incredible 8/1, or a safer option is BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 2/1. One from the Goals, Corners and Cards market is Over 2.5 Goals, 10-12 Corners and 4-6 Cards – 18/1! I have £10 on that.
If you are set on Germany – Ger + BTTS is 9/2 – but for the win in 90 mins are 5/4.
Top Tip – BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 2/1
Outside Longshot – Over 2.5 Goals, 10-12 Corners + 4-6 Cards @ 18/1
Best of luck
