From today onwards we are changing the way we do things – the system will be to pick 10 games at good value (just the basic win) and then another market on that game. For example on the weekend we did something similar, and picked Troyes, Monaco, Bournemouth, Luton, Istanbul and Preston (just 7/4 win for them) and on 5 of the 6 we picked another higher priced tip in a different market – three win to nil’s, a -1 and a Race to 2 – all 9/5 or higher, with three over 2/1!
Here are our 10 picks for Boxing Day:
1. Tottenham Win @ Evens / Win + BTTS @ 11/4 vs Leicester
Spurs, away from home, are pretty good, 2nd best form in the league away from White Hart Lane at the moment. Leicester are pretty shocking, I wouldn’t expect them to get anything here. 3 of Spurs’ last 6 games away from home they have won 2-1 or better – they always seem to concede one! Both bets good value, we rate this as 8/10
2. Man City Win @ 1/2 / Win + Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 6/5 vs WBA
West Brom always seem to grab a goal in this one. Was 3-2 City last time, and 2-1 the time before I think. Man City are in very good form, and should see of a WBA team in pretty poor form, with Alan Irvine under pressure, and Saido Berahino losing his early season form a little. City are missing forwards, but with the strength of their midfield, we rate this one at 9/10
3. Man Utd Win @ 1/2 / Over 2.5 Team Goals @ 6/5 vs Newcastle
Newcastle’s revival is well and truly over. 3 losses in 3, 9 goals conceded. 4 each vs Spurs and Arsenal, and their record at Utd is not pretty reading. Bar a win last time out, they had not won there for 30 years or so. Man Utd have hit some form and sit 4th in the league. With RVP, Rooney, Mata, Di Maria and Falcao leading the line – they should have no issues scoring. Win to Nil is tempting @ 13/10, but with Ayoze Perez looking dangerous, and Newcastle having a knack of turning up vs the Big teams – it’s not worth risking, especially with Utd’s iffy defence. 1/2 for the win is decent value, but we like Over 2.5 Team Goals @ 6/5
Probably my personal favourite bet for Boxing Day – we rate it’s chances as 9/10
4. Liverpool Win @ 19/20 / HT-FT @ 7/4 vs Burnley
Liverpool are now finding a little form, and without the lumpent, useless trio of Balotelli, Lambert or Borini up front, they look half decent now. Burnley have found some form too, but after QPR’s win on the weekend they are back in the bottom 3. Fancy them to beat Burnley 2/3-0, and to lead at HT. Both good prices considering. A solid 8/10.
5. Rochdale Win @ 5/4 / Win + BTTS @ 16/5 vs Scunthorpe
Rochdale’s away form is amongst the best in the league, as is Scunthorpe’s, but they are at home and in awful home form. Several of Rochdale’s last few away wins, and quite a few wins in general this season have been with both teams scoring, so we feel this represents value. We rate this one at 8/10
6. Preston Win @ 4/6 / Win + BTTS @ 12/5 vs Barnsley
Preston are in strong home form, Barnsley have lost 3 of their last 6 away games. Would fancy both to score, and Preston to triumph. Both very good value! We give a rating of 9/10 for this one!
7. Barnet Win @ 11/10 / HT-FT @ 12/5 vs Aldershot
Barnet are top of the league and flying. Aldershot on the other hand are struggling a little in the lower mid-table region. At 11/10, Barnet look great value considering form of both sides. We fancy them to get a quick start, with HT-FT market looking nice @ 12/5. Our rating for the chances of this bet is 8/10
8. Dover Win @ Evens / Win to Nil @ 12/5 vs Welling
Dover have won 4 of the last 6 home games, and drawn the other 2. Welling on the other hand, have lost 4 of their last 6 away games. Dover have conceded in just 1 game in the past 5 home. Looks good value – we rate this game at a solid 8/10.
9. Lincoln Win @ 3/4 / HT-FT @ 13/8 vs Alfreton
Alfreton are one of the worst teams in the league form wise, and by position. Lincoln are in great form, and have faced Alfreton twice this season, winning 5-1 and losing 2-0. Neither have been in the league. Really think they will triumph come friday afternoon. 8/10 rating.
10. Eastleigh Win @ 7/5 / Win + BTTS @ 10/3 vs Woking
Eastleigh’s home form has been in general very good this season, and in the past 5 games they have taken 13 points from 15, winning + BTTS on three occasions. Woking are sitting in the top 6 but their form has deserted them away from home recently – one win in 5, with 3 losses. We like Eastleigh for the win @ 7/5, as well as BTTS @ 10/3! Rating of 8/10 for this one!
