Capital One Cup Preview + Tips

We are now one round short of the Quarter Finals now. 9 of the 16 teams are Premier League, with just three all-Premier League ties meaning only three are guaranteed a place in the next round. Here are our thoughts on the 8 games, and a few selected tips:

Shrewsbury vs Chelsea

The League 2 side have little hope of surviving this, against the most in-form side in the Country! We like Race to 3 for Chelsea @ 21/20 – we fully expect them to bag at least three and not concede! Expect Dominic Solanke to get some game time, and Andre Schurrle, Willian and the likes of Kurt Zouma to get some too. Here are our picks:

Chelsea -1 (13/20), -2 (7/4)
Both Teams Not to Score + Over 2.5 Goals – 14/5
Chelsea Race to 3 (21/20)
Schurrle Any Time Goal (5/4)

Bournemouth vs West Brom

Should be a good game – WBA come in off the back of a 2-2 rescued draw, and Bournemouth won 8-0 against Birmingham. Could go either way – possibly think Saido Berahino will continue his good form and bag @ 6/5. We fancy both to score, even maybe both halves @ 14/1! Here are some selections:

Berahino Any Time Goal (5/4)
BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals (1/1)
BTTS Both Halves (14/1)

Fulham vs Derby

Again – could be a good game. Fulham won 4-0 Friday night, and Derby are in excellent form. If we had to pick one – Derby would be my choice due to excellent form and a better squad for the division. Here are our picks:

Derby Win + BTTS (4/1)
Derby Race to 2 Goals (2/1)
J Russell Any Time Goal (23/10)

MK Dons vs Sheffield Utd

MK Dons could be the Bradford this season – and facing one of the lowest ranked teams left in it (bar themselves and Shrewsbury), as well as being at home – they have a great chance! Benik Afobe is in good form, and is 7/5 any time to score!

Afobe Any Time Goal (7/5)
MK Dons + BTTS (3/1)
MK Dons Race to 2 (11/8)

Liverpool vs Swansea

Liverpool are in need of a win, and may even give some kids a chance tonight. Swansea could start the likes of Montero, Routledge, Gomis and several others, which may not affect them. We fancy Swansea for this one – Rodgers will have enough on his mind with the Premier League and Champions League.

Swansea +1 (11/10)
Swansea DNB (12/5)
Swansea Win + BTTS (6/1)
Bony Any Time Scorer – 19/10

Tottenham vs Brighton

Spurs will be hurting after a loss to Newcastle on the weekend – Brighton could get the brunt of a grumpy Poch! Here are a few selections we like:

Kane Any Time Goal (1/1) + Win (5/4)
Spurs Win to Nil (29/20)

Stoke vs Southampton

Southampton are in brilliant form, facing a Stoke side who a little indifferent. Both stern defences, could be low scoring!

Southampton Win to Nil (13/5)
Southampton Race to 2 (7/5)
Mane Any Time Goal (21/10)

Man City vs Newcastle

Despite two wins on the trott, you can’t see past a Man City win. The likes of Navas and Jovetic could start, with Newcastle likely to go with a slightly weakened team too with a game at 1245 on Saturday. Remy Cabella is likely to start, maybe Ayoze Perez too, as well as Sammy Ameobi. Newcastle faced City at a similar stage last season, and despite doing well, eventually lost 2-0 in extra time. Very much like BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals, or even Man City + BTTS. Frank Lampard is likely to play, and on FK’s and Penalties, he could be a good shout for any time scorer!

Man City + BTTS (8/5)
Navas Any Time Goal (13/8)
BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals (1/1)
Penalty Awarded (11/4)

1. Chelsea Race to 3/Southampton Over 1.5 Goals/Derby to Qualify/Swansea +1 Goal – 18/1
2. Bournemouth-WBA BTTS/Liverpool-Swansea BTTS/MK Dons-Sheff Utd BTTS/Derby-Fulham BTTS – 6/1
3. Kane/Mane/Navas/Berahino/Afobe/Russell/Schurrle/Bony Any Time Goalscorers – 1700/1
4. Chelsea -2 Goals/Man City + BTTS/Spurs Win to Nil/Southampton Win to Nil/WBA + BTTS/Derby + BTTS/Swansea + BTTS/MK Dons + BTTS – 43,000/1

The last two may be longshots, but if we were to tip anything but the expected, you would win nothing as the obvious are often the first to go wrong! He who dares, wins…Rodney!

Best of luck
