It looked like it was heading towards another double yesterday, with Oostende 2-0 up, eventually winning 3-2 while Crotone lead from just before half time up until the last minute, conceding an 89th minute equalizer – luckily my phone had given up otherwise I’d have smashed it to pieces through annoyance.
Today is looking rather quiet – a near-full set of Serie A games, and a few in Belgium – but nothing going in the latter so concentrating on the Italian league.
1. Juventus -1 Corner Handicap @ 1/1 vs Sassuolo (1945 KO – NAP)
It’s been a while since I last covered the corner markets – but this looks pretty sharp.
Juventus have beaten Sassuolo on corners in 3 of the last four ties – with scores of 13-1, 6-2 and 5-2, losing 8-3 a couple of seasons ago. In more recent form, Juventus have won 8 of their last 10 games on corners, 6 of which by at least -1. They drew one 4-4, and lost 6-1 to Man City. The rest have been between -1 and about -6 with an aggregate of 54 corners to 33.
Sassuolo have lost 6 of their last 10, with all being quite heavy losses on corners. An aggregate of 38-57 – but conceded heavily to the better teams, often double figures or very close to double figures. Despite being in relatively good form, their record against Juventus will play on their mind, and I think the Old Lady will win the game and rack up plenty of corners.
2. Fiorentina Race to 7 Corners @ 6/4 vs Verona (1945 KO)
Fiorentina have lost their last few games but have still racked up the corners – 44 in their last 4 to be precise (9, 14, 9 and 12) and against Verona in the past have had scores of 11-7, 10-6 and 7-3. Verona have had 10+ corners in 8 of their last 10 games, conceding the majority on most occasions. With Verona being in bad form I can see it going in one of two ways:
1. Verona keep it at 1-0 or 0-0 for a long period, and Fiorentina rack up the corners trying to grab an equalizer/winner.
2. Fiorentina put pressure on very early, get an early lead and run away with the game and put 8-10 corners on them.
Like mentioned, Viola have had a lot of corners, and team that with their record and I think they will ease to 7 corners no problem!
As a double that pays 4/1 – I cannot see enough value to get a Evens priced double as a lot of the games are a bit dodgy, and we have enough trust issues with Italians as it stands…
If you cannot get corner markets, both Juventus and Fiorentina to win pays around 2/1, or you could go with some Asian Handicaps – with -1/-1.5 being a decent price for both – a 1 goal win for either would mean a void, while a 2-0 would mean it wins – so basically like doing Draw No Bet, but a narrow win gets you the refund.
Best of luck
