Football Tips // Saturday

Morning all

Today has the potential to be very profitable – four very good selections on offer – despite the poor luck recently I think it is best I stick to my guns, with today’s football being more in my comfort zone. Here are my three picks:

1. Basel Win @ 6/5 vs Grasshoppers Zurich (1900, Swiss Super League – NAP)

Basel are basically winning the league with ease every season. There is no real challenge – but this season they have brought in a few very astute signings. Kuzmanovic for one, Bikir Bjarnson from Pescara and Grasshoppers defender Michel Lang. They have won the last three meetings – the last of which was a 2-1 home win. Grasshoppers had a good end of season, but after such a poor start it made little difference. With Breel Embolo taking a more eminent role in the team this season, I can see them really hammering a few sides – the young man is going to be a star and this season should be when the world gets to fully know Breel Embolo!

2. Jablonec Win @ 13/10 vs Pribam (1600 KO, Czech Synot Liga)

Jablonec had an incredible year last season – finishing in the top three or four, and regularly beating the likes of Sparta Prague. Their run-in for the last few months was simply fantastic, winning pretty much every game and the odd draw thrown in there. Pribam were also decent, but when they faced the best few they always lost. Jablonec won the last two meetings 2-0 and 4-1, and add 2-0 and 6-1 wins to make it 4 wins in the last 5 meetings.

3. Young Boys Win + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4 vs Lucerne (1645 KO, Swiss Super League)

Look back over Young Boys last 20 home games, and you will find 18 have gone over 2.5 goals. They have won 14 of those, with win + BTTS in pretty much all of those wins. To be a little safer, we have gone with win + Over 2.5 Goals, as there were a few 3/4-0 wins. Lucerne had an incredible spell at the end of the season that shot them up the table after being bottom for a long time. They won 8 of their last 11 games, including a 1-0 win over Young Boys. Before that,a 1-1 draw and then 4 wins of 2-1 or better for Young Boys in terms of meetings between the two. Looking back, there is always goals in this one. Hopefully not a pre-cursor for a 0-0 bore-draw…

4. Degerfors Win @ 11/10 vs IK Frej (1700 KO, Swedish Superettan)

Degerfors were unfortunate the last time we backed them – dominated much of a game they drew 0-0. This time they face IK Frej, who have come off the rails recently after a solid start at home. They were hammered 4-0 by bottom-of-the-table Brommapojkarna (we know, we backed them that game!) and it seems to have affected them ever since. Degerfors won the other meeting this season, 4-0 back in May. In their last away outing they defeated the best team in the league – Jonkopings, so on their day they can match the best, and even beat them!

I really like the first three, with Degerfors being my least favourite after they let us down last time. The first three have all the stats backing them, but to be fair so did yesterday’s four bets with most of those winning between 3 and 6 in a row against their opposition, but that was a seriously weird day! Here are my selected options:

1. NAP – 1 @ 6/5
2. Double – 2 + 3 @ 5/1
3. Treble – 1, 2 and 3 @ 12/1
4. Acca – All Four @ 25/1

Don’t forget – we are running a fantasy football league again this season with £100 in prizes! Simple click here to join (hopefully the link is good…) but if you are having any issues, the code to join is: 11888-4078
