Nearly a full house last night in the Champions League, with a poor Arsenal display the only letdown. Otherwise a brilliant night with Chelsea Over 2.5 Team Goals @ 1/1 (4-0), Bayern -1 Goal (3-0) and Valencia vs Zenit Over 2.5 Goals (2-3) all landing with relative ease. Today we move onto the Europa League and what is for me a much more even competition – with with that comes closer games and for me more goals. Here are my four tips:
1. Villarreal-Rapid Vienna BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 13/10 (1805 KO, NAP)
Villarreal’s first few games of the season have been good – full of goals with a couple of 3-1 wins. They are generally a high scoring team despite the loss of Vietto and Gio Dos Santos they are strong with signings such as Adrian Lopez, Roberto Soldado and Cedric Bakambu. At the back they are not so strong – with Mateo Musacchio their key player. Rapid Vienna are also a high scoring team, but are definitely weak at the back, conceding a lot in the Austrian Bundesliga – 4 on the weekend! Their last 5 games have had a total of 16 goals – 9 scored, 7 conceded. Should be a cracker!
2. Partizan-AZ Alkmaar BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/5 (2005 KO)
Partizan’s last 6 home games: 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 4-2, 6-0, 4-0. (20 scored, 5 conceded – average of 4.15 goals per game)
AZ’s Last 9 away games: 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-5, 1-3, 2-6, 2-0 (20 scored, 22 conceded – average of 4.6 goals per game)
Partizan are brilliant at home, while AZ are good away but can concede in numbers. In their first leg with Astra there was 5 goals in the first half alone! This should be another firecracker!
3. Fiorentina-Basel BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4 (2005 KO)
In Basel’s last 15 away games, only once has it not been BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals! They have a very handy team with some top talent in such as Breel Embolo, Marc Janko, Kakitani, Gashi, Delgado etc – loads of experience too with the those such as Walter Samuel and Janko as two examples. Fiorentina are in good home form, with 4 BTTS + Ov’s in their last 10, but in European competition this should be an interesting one!
4. Sion-Rubin Kazan BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 13/8 (1805 KO)
Kazan are very weak at the back but score a lot of goals – 4 BTTS in their last 5, with 3 of those being over 2.5 goals as well. A 3-2 win over Sturm Graz in their last away tie was good enough to see them through to the group stages. Sion on the other hand went straight into it on the back of a great season – and are very good at home. They score plenty of goals – with over 2.5 goals landing in 11 of their last 15 games, with the added BTTS in just 6. For me the most risky option – this could either be a dull 0-0 or 1-0 game, or will end about 4-2 to either of them.
1. NAP: 1 @ 13/10
2. Double: 1 + 2 @ 5/1
3. Acca: 1-4 @ 32/1
I am very hopeful on these – I’d say confident but you just never know with these competitions – just look at Arsenal last night!
