NFL // Week 17 Tips + Preview

Last week got of to a great start with a 27/20 winner, the Washington Redskins on Saturday night. A disastrous start to Sunday followed with the best two on the handicap double failing not only to cover but also, shockingly losing outright. Arizona did cover for us easily though and the New York Jets obliged as a 6/4 upset pick! A rather disappointing 1 from 3 on my touchdown selections although those of you following on Twitter were provided with two more winners courtesy of the under in the Colts -Dolphins game and the Minnesota Vikings to give us a respectable 6/10 for the week.

We have reached the last week of the regular season in the NFL and as black Monday looms most of the playoff places have been decided. In fact many of week 17s games are dead rubbers (unless you are the Indianapolis Colts who need a win and a mind boggling 8 other games to go their way to clinch a playoff place!) As I alluded to last week this creates a minefield for gamblers as it’s hard to judge which teams are motivated and which are already on the golf course. Playoff assured teams can also sit their stars to protect them for postseason further confusing matters. Therefore this week im keeping it short and sweet with relatively small stakes advised.

Green Bay Packers -3 @ 4/5 vs Minnesota Vikings (1.20am Mon) NAP

While both have already assured themselves of postseason places this game will decide who wins the NFC North and gets home advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The form is with the Vikings but the Packers have been in this position before beating out the Lions last year and the Bears the year before in divisional winner takes all season finales.
Earlier this season the Packers shut down Adrian Peterson on their way to a convincing 30-13 win in Minnesota. This Vikings offence is one dimensional and if they can again slow down the star running back, it’s hard to see where the points will come from. That victory was Green Bays 10th in the last 11 games vs the Vikings. Playing at home in a prime time game I trust Aaron Rodgers to get it done again and secure a fifth consecutive divisional title.

Buffalo Bills Win @ 10/7 vs New York Jets

The Jets will secure a playoff spot with a victory. The only thing standing in their way? Their former coach, Rex Ryan fired after 6 seasons at the helm and immediately snapped up by the Bills. No worries about lack of motivation here…this will be Ryan’s SuperBowl!
The Jets have impressed this year and while Buffalo have often disappointed but in terms of talent there is very little difference between the two teams. Given the hold field advantage The Bills should probably be favoured by a couple of points in this rather than 3 point underdogs but I will take them at the match betting price to score a victory outright.

Pittsburgh Steelers -11@10/11 vs Cleveland Browns

The Steelers let us down badly when backed to cover a double digit handicap last week meaning their destiny is out of their own hands. However with them needing a win to stand any chance I’m going back to the well with them this week. Clevelands defence in any other year would be statistically the worst in the league and is only being spared that indignity by the New Orleans Saints. Meanwhile Cleveland QB Johnny Manziel is out with concussion so Austin Davis will get the start. This should be a blowout but then again we said that last week.

The Green Bay/Buffalo double would pay around 3.4/1 while Pittsburgh brings it up to over 7/1. Those of you on Twitter give both @Accu_Tipster and @cathaldorrian a follow as if I spot any value later in the evening I’ll post it on there. Ill be back with a playoff preview next week once the final places are decided.

Best of luck
