Transfer Update – Part 2

So, we are nearing the end of July and most clubs have done their business earlier rather than later. Since the last update at the start of July, the likes of Atletico Madrid and Newcastle have really gone into overdrive, signing some corking players. Not much has happened since in France, Portugal or Germany – so this update consists of transfers in Spain, Italy and the Premier League

Premier League:

The quality of deal has really picked up, with some brilliant transfers. Newcastle, as mentioned – have signed well with highly rated forward Aleksandar Mitrovic coming in for £13m, and PSV captain Georginio Wijnaldum has also signed for £14.5m. Chancel Mbemba looks set to follow for £7.5m. Man Utd are another to sign a few, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin costing a combined £45m. Villa have been busy, with Benteke and Delph leaving for £40m with Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Amavi joining for nearly £20m. Man City have blown £59m on two young English wingers in Raheem Sterling and Patrick Roberts for £10m, the latter only making a handful of appearances for Fulham – no wonder so many clubs go foreign when a kid costs more than a World Cup winning midfielder! Liverpool will add Christian Benteke to their ranks at some point in the next few days for £32.5m – their only other deal since Firmino joined.

Other deals include Jermain Lens and Younes Kaboul joining Sunderland, Moha joining Stoke from Barcelona, Allan Nyom, Etienne Capoue, Britos and Valon Behrami joining Watford. Tottenham signed Toby Alderweireld to add to their Belgian legion. Southampton have signed the impressive Jordy Clasie, and Cuco Martina from the Dutch league. Finally – West Ham have re-signed Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal and Manuel Lanzini from an Arabic team. Palace have signed Patrick Bamford on loan, as well as Yohan Cabaye – two excellent deals!

La Liga:

Atletico Madrid have really sparked into life, signed Ferreira-Carrasco from Monaco for £10m – an incredible signing! They have also added Jackson Martinez for over £25m, ex-Defender Felipe Luis for £12m and Stefan Savic for money + Mario Suarez. Real have only signed Kiko Casilla to replace Iker Casillas for £4m.

A few good deals around the smaller clubs are those such as John Guidetti going to Celta Vigo, Santiago Vergini has gone to Getafe on loan, Portuguese winger Bruma has signed for Sociedad, while Valencia have signed Alvaro Negredo for £24m, Zakaria Bakkali for free after a contract rangle with PSV as well as Santi Mine. Sevilla have made some astute buys – Yehven Konoplyanka on a free transfer, Steven Nzonzi for £7.5m and Ciro Immobile on loan, along with Adil Rami.

Serie A:

Inter have continued to make some good signings – Jeison Murillo, Martin Montoya and Jonathon Biabiany have joined on a mixture of loans, frees and a small fee. Juventus have signed up Simeone Zaza for £12m as well as Neto from Fiorentina and Fernando from Sampdoria. AC Milan have signed Jose Mauri, while Ezequiel Munoz has gone to Genoa after leaving Palermo

So – hopefully this will get you all up to speed with anything you have missed – the next update will me midway through August and the last at the end of the window, with an overall summary.
