With football back in full flow, I am starting my reviews again. With normally just four picks on each day – it would sort of tell you the intended bets, but as we speak I am still undecided so have 5 for each day at the moment – however the difference from now is that I will suggest a huge 6 fold like a lot have asked for. Anyway – here is my preview for the weekend:
1. Swansea-Newcastle BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/10 (Premier League, 1500 KO)
This game usually provides a lot of goals. The last three have ended 3-2, 2-2 and 2-1, but this time around Newcastle seem to have greatly improved with some quality players and a coach who likes to get the ball on the floor and actually play football (the polar opposite to Alan Pardew. Swansea and Garry Monk are much of the same, and with a forward three that includes Montero, Andre Ayew and Bafe Gomis – they are going to provide a huge threat to a still-iffy looking NUFC back four. Wijnaldum, Aarons, De Jong, Sissoko and Cisse are just a few of the threats Newcastle have, with the maverick Alex Mitrovic coming off the bench. This really should he a hugely high scoring games. Both drew 2-2 in the opening game, and were playing Southampton and Chelsea, so not poor sides!
2. Watford-West Brom BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4 (Premier League, 1500 KO)
Watford surprised a few, scoring two and drawing against a strong Everton side. Despite a big squad, some of their players look very good from what I could see. Vydra and Ighalo are a threat up front, while for West Brom they have new signing Salomon Rondon to fit into a side that includes Saido Berahino and Ricky Lambert in the striker position. Both look good going forward, but will struggle in terms of how many they concede.
3. Gillingham Draw No Bet @ 11/10 vs Port Vale (League One, 1500 KO)
Gillingham shocked a lot of people by thrashing league favourites Sheff Utd 4-0, and also beat Plymouth 2-1 in the Cup. Port Vale have a very poor looking squad, and drew their first game 0-0 to Crewe, another relegation candidate. Remie Streete – a key defender for them, went off after 45 in the cup and looks to be either unfit or injured. Going forward they lack a goalscorer, while Gillingham have a very good lineup with Cody McDonald and Bradley Dack both in great form. They should win this, and at 2/1 in the match odds they are hugely overpriced.
4. Leyton Orient Win @ 11/10 vs Dag & Red (League Two, 1500 KO)
Orient have a very good looking squad and won their first league game 2-0 while D & R lost 3-0 in the league and 4-1 in the cup and look a team that will struggle this season. 11/10 looks a decent price for the win – something I really like for today!
5. Millwall-Coventry BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4 (League One, 1500 KO)
In the first gameweek, Millwall won 2-1 coming back from 1-0 down, and have a squad full of good youngsters mixed with experience. The likes of Marquis and Onyendinma are two that performed that season on loan elsewhere and are now in the first team squad. Coventry have some excellent youngsters – Adam Armstrong is on loan from Newcastle and scored twice on debut, at just 18. With another youngster – James Maddison, playing behind him – they are a threat
6. Crystal Palace-Arsenal BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4 (Premier League, 1330 KO)
Palace started well with a 3-1 win over Norwich, while Arsenal lost 2-0 to West Ham. This fixture finished 2-1 and 2-1 last season, and with a creative midfield I’m expecting Palace to score. Arsenal looked decent, dominated much of the game (chances wise) but could not score. I think they will this week as any Alan Pardew team struggles to defend. Should be a good game!
7. Slavia Prague-Vysocina Jihlava BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 8/5 (Czech Synot Liga, 1600 KO)
This is usually a very tasty game. BTTS + Over 2.5 has landed in 4 of the last 5 meetings overall and 5/5 when played in Prague. Both have had a relative sedative start to the season, three or four games in and only a couple BTTS + Overs between them. They met over the summer and Slavia won 4-1, which is only a good sign!
8. Utecht-Heerenveen BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 1/1 (Dutch Eredivisie, 1330 KO)
This is another that should guarantee goals. Utrecht lost 3-2 in the opening game, while Heerenveen won 3-1. The last 5 matches between the two have ended 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 2-0 and 2-1, so historically this has a good chance.
9. Anderlecht Win @ 1/1 vs Oostende (Belgian Pro League, 1330 KO)
Anderlecht have an excellent record against Oostende. The last four games have been 2-0, 3-0, 3-0 and 4-0 wins, though the likes of Mbemba and Mitrovic have left – they still have a load of talent including Dennis Praet to name but one. They have started the season well with 2 wins and a draw (actually both have!) but neither have played anyone that good (bar Anderlecht who played last seasons Champs).
10. Astra Win @ 11/8 vs Voluntari (Romanian Liga I, 1630 KO)
Astra are in fantastic form – beating the likes of Steaua in the league as well as West Ham in the Europa League. Voluntari have struggled thus far, picking up four draws in their first six games. Astra will be a totally different challenge however, and one I think they will lose.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
A 10 fold with all of these selections would pay around 3150/1, while each daily 5 fold would be around 55/1. My 6 fold is as follows:
1. Swansea-Newcastle BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/10
2. Gillingham DNB @ 11/10
3. Watford-WBA BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4
4. Slavia Prague-Jihlava BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 8/5
5. Utrecht-Heerenveen BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 1/1
6. Astra Win @ 11/8
This pays 135/1 with Bet 365 – others may vary.
Best of luck for the weekend – my four tips for today will be up shortly at around 7am
