2016 Summer Transfers: Part 2 – Spain, Germany & Italy

Yesterday I took a look at what had happened thus far in the English transfer market, from both at home and abroad. Over £200m spent so far, but next I look at three other major leagues – Germany, Italy and France. The action isn’t quite as busy, but there have been some huge transfers in all three leagues.

Very quiet so far in Spain, but there have been some biggies! Atletico have signed Sime Vrsaljko from Genoa for over £15m, while they have also brought in Nico Gaitan from Benfica for around £20m. Barcelona have also been active 0 bringing in Samuel Umtiti from Lyon for £25m, and re-signing Denis Suarez from Villarreal – activating a buy back clause. Real Madrid have brought back Alvaro Morata in a similar deal – but are expected to sell on for a huge profit with Arsenal interested.

Bar that, very few other deals – Valencia have signed Nani from Fenerbache, and Villarreal have signed Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid.

Italy and the Serie A has been somewhat busier than Spain – multiple great deals from a variety of teams.

Juventus have signed two players – Mirajem Pjanic for £25m and Dani Alves on a free transfer. AC Milan have signed Cagliari’s on form striker Lapadula for £9m, and Argentine left back Leonel Vangioni on a free transfer from River Plate. Inter have made 2 free transfer signings – Ever Banega from Sevilla and Caner Erkin from Fenerbache. Napoli have signed Tonelli for around the £10m mark from Torino, while Roma have been the busiest – signing Shaarawy for £12m, Antonio Rudiger for £7m and Allison for £7.5m – the first two just paying up for permanent deals after loan periods with them.

A smaller one, but interesting – Seko Fofana signs for Udinese from Man City – could he be another Matic/Pogba type deal? Will they regret it, as he was very highly rated but never given a chance.

Some of the highest profile deals have occurred in Germany! Dortmund have lost 3 key players in Hummels, Mkhitaryan and Gundogan – but have signed Marc Bartra from Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele from Rennes (for over £20m), Emre Mor for around £8m, Sebastian Rode from Bayern and Raphael Guerreiro from Lorient for around £9.5m.

Bayern have signed well – Hummels from Dortmund for a fee in excess of £35m, while Renato Sanches – who is impressing for Portugal, has signed for a similar fee – but for an 18 year old, it tells you how good he is, and could become! In other deals – Leverkusen have signed Kevin Volland for around the £12m mark, Schalke have signed Naldo on a free and Breel Embolo for around £20m – an excellent signing! Wolfsburg have been the busiest – signing multiple players including Yannick Gerhardt from Koln, Jeffrey Bruma from PSV, Daniel Didavi from Stuttgart and Joshua Guilavogui from Atletico, on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell
