After a weekend with 6 winners, we look ahead to the midweek games. There is action in La Liga, Serie A, Capital One Cup, Coupe de France and a few lower league games all around Europe.
A lot depends on who starts, but given what we have read most are taking this seriously as it is a route into Europe, even for those in the top 4 a fallback plan if all goes wrong – Man Utd are struggling and will be lucky to get into the Europa League at this rate – so Moyes will need to put a decent team out against a resilliant Norwich City. West Ham take on Burnley, leaders of the Championship, while Fulham visit Leicester who are in great form – those are two potential shocks, along with Stoke who visit Birmingham.
Among the top flight meetings, Chelsea take on Arsenal, Man City are at St James Park to face Newcastle – will they be a wounded animal, or still feeling sorry for themselves? Possibly the latter given the pathetic local media ban issued from Mike Ashley and the board, and Kinnear…
There is a repeat of a Super Sunday game – Spurs are at home to Hull. In Spain Barca and Real Madrid are 1/4 and 1/5 respectively to beat Celta Vigo and Sevilla. Juventus and AS Roma have easy games, while Fiorentina take on Napoli in what will be a fantastic game. Finally in France there is the equivalent of the FA Cup – The Coupe de France. Toulouse are 11/10 against lower league opposition Creteil, Montpellier 7/5 vs Sochaux and Monaco are 6/10 against Reims, who they drew with a few weeks ago.
