We are now approaching the end of a fantastic World Cup, and with that the transfers start to role in. We will summarise the biggest that have happened recently:
Man Utd have secured Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera for around £55m, £27m for Shaw and £29m for Herrera. They will also look to add more to their ranks soon, with Van Gaal wanting a centre back, right back and reinforcements in midfield and upfront.
Man City have signed Fernando from Porto for around £12m. No doubt they will also add more in coming weeks and months, although with their FFP fine they will have to get rid of a few, including Negredo and Richards, who both look set to leave. Liverpool have added Adam Lallana to their team for £25m, and with the impending departure of Suarez to Barcelona for what looks to be £60m+, they could be adding Shaqiri, Origi and more! Rickie Lambert has also arrived from Southampton for around £4m.
Newcastle could be one of the busiest clubs around, with all but one striker leaving at the end of the season. Siem de Jong has been signed from Ajax for £7.5m, with Debuchy likely to go to Arsenal. Alexandre Lacazette could be next in for around £8m, as well as Remy Cabella and Micah Richards. Ayoze Perez and Jack Colback are the others to have signed for the Magpies so far.
Southampton have lost three of last season’s stars, but look set to sign Dusan Tadic for £7m. As well as Newcastle, they are said to be in talks with Danny Ings of Burnley. With £50m sitting in the coffers, and Ronald Koeman now in charge, there will be more movement very soon you would think.
The likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton have been very quiet upto now, but all will begin to move with the World Cup ending in 10 days. Chelsea have made some good moves, with Diego Costa signed up for £32m, Tiago has signed on a free and Felipe Luis could well follow from At Madrid for a fee of around £15-20m.
Newly promoted Leicester, QPR and Burnley have also all been quiet, with QPR possibly being fined £50m+ for breaking FFP Rules whilst in the Championship. Loic Remy, unless offered a billion pounds a week, will leave for between £8-15m after a good season on loan at Newcastle.
As far as action in the Premier League goes, that’s it really. Until the World Cup ends most will remain quiet, as players they want are still out there. Some can act as targeted players did not make the trip, but as the window only opened a few days ago it will seem quiet for now. Most like to get deals done before Pre-Season, and some, like Newcastle, need players quickly as they lost a lot, and are looking to get rid of a few more. Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba look likely to move, with fee’s of £25m for the Chilean, and £60m for Pogba. Suarez looks likely to move on as well after the notorious Biting incident, and if I were a Liverpool fan I’d be saying good riddance!
We will have another update shortly, based more on European transfers in France, Germany, Spain and Italy!
