So, this is where our season starts! Starting today we have games in Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Belgium and Switzerland. There is a load of poor value out there, such as Anderlect 1/5 vs a newly promoted team. That sort of thing is a risk, and does not add much to an accumulator. We have selected 13 games and will come up with three 4 Fold Acumulators and a couple of Daily Tips from these. Here’s our preview of Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s action:
There isn’t a great deal about today – the picks really are Liege @ 4/11 vs Charleroi, but Liege have lost a couple of key players like Opare and Batshuayi, so maybe one to avoid. They seem to have a good record against their opposition, but Charleroi ended in very good form last season, and with Liege losing two key players, we may just watch this and see what happens. Dinamo Zagreb @ 2/7 vs Lok Zagreb – an interesting one, as Dinamo have won 4 of the last 5 away meetings, with them winning and both teams scoring. A pattern? D Zagreb + BTTS is 11/5! Debrecen face Nyiregyhaza away from home, who they have beaten @ -1 goal in the last 5 games, usually between 2-0 and 6-1. 8/13 just for the win is value, but -1 is a good price @ 13/8. The last of the selected games today is Sparta Prague @ 1/3 vs Bohemians. This is usually a tight affair, with Sparta winning by 1 goal. Last seasons game at the same ground finished 2-1, but the previous 3 were 2-0, 1-0 and 4-0. Win to Nil looks value @ Evens, or you can get -1 at the same price. Might be worth going safe and just backing the win with it being the first game of the season.
Saturday brings around the Austrian big-guns! Austria Vienna are 23/20 against Wolfsberger, who they have a very good record against. One for the Acca there, if not DNB @ 2/5. Salzburg face Neustadt – who they have beaten 5-0, 5-1, 5-1, 6-0 and 8-1 in the last 5 games. 29 goals in 5 games! -2 is 11/10, Win Both Halves is 4/5 or a cheeky -3 is 12/5. They have form, having beaten the next best team in the league 6-1 on the opening day! Legia Warsaw face Cracovia and are Evens to win. They have a good record there, not losing in the last 5, winning 3. Lokern face newly promoted Westerlo, and have won the last 5 against them, scoring at least 2 4 times, usually 4 – another for the acca @ 23/20.
In terms of value under Evens, Steaua Bucharest face their newly promoted rivals in Rapid, who had some financial issues two seasons ago and ended up going down. They played a few weeks ago and Steaua won 2-1. 4/7 is a good price there. Plzen face Pribam, a side their either beat by two goals or lose 1-0. 4 of the last 5 games have ended as wins for Plzen, with one loss. 1/2 is safe value you would think. Finally Chernomorets face Olimpik Donetsk in the Ukrainian Premier League. The home side ended last season in good nick, and should win this one. 4/11 is great value!
The final day produces what I think is the best price of the weekend. Slovan Liberec face Ceske Budejovice, who have just come back up. The last 5 games Slovan have won by at least 2 goals, yet are 29/20. Amazing price! DNB @ 8/11 is pretty much a banker, covering something like Slovan getting a red card, or playing awfully. They should get at least a draw. 95% sure they will win this! To make an amazing double, Lech Poznan are Evens vs Gornik Zabre, a team they have a brilliant record against – 4 wins and a draw in the last 5! Basel are the only team below evens we like, @ 4/9 vs Luzern. Another with a spotless record against their opposition, with Luzern also having played and lost on Penalties to St Johnstone, so tiredness could be a factor here.
