A very unlucky day yesterday, with a void and a loss. Poland only won 1-0, with dozens of chances to get a 2nd, while Germany won 2-0 – with Ukraine having shots cleared off the line, and multiple great saves from Neuer.
Today – a 5/1 double in the latter two games:
Rep of Ireland vs Sweden: BTTS @ 11/10 (Group E, 1700 KO)
This for me is one of those where you have two pretty average teams playing, in the knowledge that the winner will probably stand an excellent chance of getting a best 3rd place, or better. With Italy and Belgium likely to take the top two spots, this is the big game for both of these.
Sweden have a decent team – Ibra the big name but the likes of Lindelof and Elm are good players! Ireland similarly have a lot of ageing players, but the likes of Shane Long and Aiden McGeady should cause a lot of problems.
The standout bet on the goalscorer side of things is Ibrahimovic A/T + Sweden Win @ 12/5 (7/2 on priceboost with William Hill), but because picking a winner will be tough, I really like Long & Ibrahimovic to both score @ 7/1 with William Hill – a touch risky but two in form players.
Belgium vs Italy: Belgium Win @ 8/5 (Group E, 2000 KO)
Keeping this one short and simple – I think Belgium have a better group of players, that with the fullback positions sorted should really start to flourish as a team. De Bruyne, Batshuayi, Mertens, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Courtois – class from back to front. Italy are starting to really age – 13 players 29 or over in the 23 man squad, with multiple over 33/34.
I’m hoping Batshauyi gets the start, as he is in great form – while Benteke and Lukaku are not! Also fancy De Bruyne A/T + Belgium Win @ 4/1.
Best of luck!
