With September now behind us, we move into October with a little form behind us! The stats read quite well a few days ago – and although a 2/3 last night helped, the last week put a sour note on the whole month, despite plenty of winning doubles/trebles and the 30/1 accumulator. Multiple accumulators ended up one off, but the fact we were so close on several occasions is only testament to the hard work we put in!
Anyway – a big Saturday of football, with the accumulator for English football posted last night. Here are my picks for some goal scorers, with four value bets:
(1) Omar Bogle A/T @ 11/10 (Grimsby vs Hartlepool)
Bogle is in top form – 9 goals already this season in a mid-table side, and at home against a fairly poor defence – you’d be mad to back against him to hit double figures in the league after less than 10 games!
(2) Scott Hogan A/T @ 6/5 (Brentford vs Wigan)
Hogan ended last season in hot form, and he has started in the same vein! He has 7 this season, and 4 in his last 2 home games, where the Bee’s have scored 9 in total. Against a Wigan side winless on the road, and leaking goals – he is a prime suspect as to who might be the main to send them to a 6th straight loss!
(3) Tammy Abraham A/T @ 11/10 (Bristol City vs Notts Forest)
I backed Abraham on Tuesday, and he came close a couple of times before being withdrawn after about 70 minutes. This time, against a poor Forest back four, who have conceded a shed load of goals – I think he will have more luck, especially at home.
(4) Sadio Mane A/T @ 6/5 (Swansea vs Liverpool)
Liverpool are in massively impressive form at the moment – top four contenders, and 24 goals in 8 games. Sturridge isn’t a certain starter, and with Mane often playing either as a striker or a winger, he has been a regular scorer, with 3 goals in the league so far. Against a Swansea side under pressure after a string of bad results, I think he is value here to notch anytime!
Together this pays around 28/1, though here are some additional thoughts:
Hogan A/T + Brentford Win is 2/1 on William Hill, but these bets cannot be used in doubles/trebles etc.
Hogan/Bogle as a first goalscorer double pays 19/1 (4/1 and 3/1).
All four as a first goalscorer accumulator pays 475/1! (Unlikely, I know…)
Best of luck!
