2 wins from 3 on Friday evening – Jong PSV winning 4-0 for the handicap to come in, Newcastle suffering arguably one of the worst refereeing performances in a 2-1 loss to Forest (BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals) but then Benfica conceded inside 10 minutes to a team who had only scored 6 all season! Gut punch…
Four crackers for Saturday – 2 English, and 2 foreign:
Zulte Waregem vs Beveren: Waregem -1 Goal Handicap @ 11/10 (Belgian Pro, 1900 KO)
Waregem are kind of doing what Leicester did last season – leading the league from those who have spent much more! At home. 5 wins and 3 draws – while away, Beveren have lost 6/7 and the one they failed to lose was a draw, while also conceding 17. Given form, the home side should win this, and by a couple.
Palace vs Southampton: Southampton Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 5/4 (PL, 1500 KO)
Southampton have gone quietly about their business, they sit tenth with 17 points on the board. Everything Southampton do is done conservatively, they’ve scored 13 goals and conceded 12. Southampton come off the back of an encouraging display against Everton and will have every confidence facing off against 17th placed Crystal Palace. Palace have come under serious pressure with every passing game as it becomes more and more likely they will soon part ways with manager Alan Pardew. Not only do Palace sit 17th in the league, they have the second worst defensive record with 26 conceded and have managed only three wins up to this point, including an unbelievable 5-4 loss to Swansea last week. The way Southampton have been carving chances (albeit for low returns) they should enjoy extended periods in front of goal here.
Norwich vs Brentford: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 21/20 (Championship, 1500 KO)
Norwich let me down big style last week after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Derby. Even after that result they are still statistically spot on for this market with 29 for and 30 against. Brentford also offer relatively exciting opposition in terms of goals with 24 for and 21 against. 12 of Norwich’s 18 games so far have ended over 2.5 Goals whilst Brentford have had seven. Norwich are more than capable on their day of scoring three goals, but have proven time and time again for every goal they score they are going to concede, they face a Brentford side who are respectively far more predictable but by no means goal shy.
Metz vs Lyon: Lyon -1 Goal Handicap @ 11/8 (Ligue 1, 1900 KO)
Lyon, midweek – came up against a Nantes side that had only conceded 18 goals in 14 games. A very lean, tough defence – but still put 6 past them. They are a side on the up, and with Lacazette’s return to fitness and form, and supporting acts Tolisso and Fekir – they have a side that looks like returning to the Champions League. Metz are mid-table but concede heavily at times – 29 so far, including 7 against Monaco
