Hi all! Quiet week in general – a little football on but nothing that was taking my eye. FA Cup weekend is here – and although I enjoy it greatly, a mixture of things make it difficult to call. Teams often change things about when playing smaller teams, while smaller teams often don’t bother as they believe the league is more important.
Due to this, I have stuck with league football in League One and Two, although have thrown one FA Cup game in as I believe it is unbelievably good value:
Scunthorpe vs Bury: Scunthorpe -1 Goal Handicap @ 5/4 (League One, 1500 KO)
Scunthorpe were at the head of the table for a long time this season, but with Sheffield Utd’s great form and a few dropped points over Christmas, they find themselves now 3rd with Bolton also in great form. At home, they are unbeaten and face a Bury side conceding silly amounts of goals. The handicap look value here.
Bristol Rovers vs Northampton: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 21/20 (League One, 1500 KO)
Rovers are in a rich vein of scoring form – at home especially, scoring in 9 of their last 10 home games, and over 3 goals on 4 occasions! They have also conceded in the same number, even when playing the lowly sides such as Bury and Coventry. Northampton are one of the leagues steady Eddie’s – 16th, score plenty and conceded around the same – they have had a bland patch of 4 games without a BTTS, but often playing much better sides. Against Rovers, the goals should flow.
Stevenage vs Newport: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 (League Two, 1500 KO)
Stevenage looked like they were heading for a promotion place up until a few weeks ago – their form has dropped off a cliff though, and if you look at their last 10 home games you will see mainly losses and a tonne of goals conceded, with a decent amount scored still. Most have been BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals, and while Newport are bottom, they have a knack of scoring goals despite losing. Against another side in poor form, it should be a good game!
Wigan vs Notts Forest: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/5 (FA Cup, 1500 KO)
Wigan and Forest are two sides struggling in the Championship, and conceding plenty of goals. In their last meet, it ended 4-3 to Forest. Wigan have been struggling for goals, while Forest have been struggling to stop conceding them! Forest have had 7 BTTS + Over 2.5’s in their last 10 away games, but have also scored a lot – Wigan have a few players back from injury, and might well use a few squad players – freshen things up so to speak. Over 2.5 alone is 43/40, but the BTTS beefs up the price to 7/5.
The accumulator pays in the region of 22/1, while my preferred double is the top duo @ 4/1.
Best of luck!
