What started out well, ended with a poor day. Doncaster won 2-0 for the -1 handicap to land @ 5/4, but Newcastle (the first time I’ve backed them since the opening day of the season) lost 2-0 to Wolves in a shoddy display, and their first loss in 6 games. Scunthorpe won 1-0, not quite the 2 goals we needed, while West Ham had a mare and conceded 4 to WBA!
Looking more towards the European side of things for Sunday – a fourfold of mainly handicap bets, and a Win + Over 2.5 in Sweden:
Espanyol vs Real Madrid: Real Madrid -1 Goal Handicap @ 6/5 (La Liga, 1945 KO – NAP)
Madrid have started well, and are top of the league. Despite missing Bale today, they should still beat a rank-average Espanyol side who have conceded 9 in their first 3 games, including a 6-4 loss to Sevilla.
In their last 5 meetings, the scores have been 6-0, 6-0, 4-1, 3-0 and 3-1 to Real Madrid. Ronaldo is back and fit – I think Madrid will muller them again
Nordsjaelland vs Sonderjyske: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 (Danish Super Liga, 1100 KO)
These two are very high scorers, but equally struggle to keep a clean sheet! Both are conceding either over or about 2 goals per game, and scoring around a goal per game so far this season. In their last 5 meetings, the scorelines have been 3-1, 2-1, 2-0, 2-1 and 4-0 – always goals, and often fairly even. Both at the wrong end of the table, with BTTS + Over 2.5 records being rather good!
Poli Timisoara vs Steaua Bucharest: Steaua -1 Goal Handicap @ 1/1 (Romanian Liga I, 1800 KO)
Steaua are top of the table, and unlike the last few seasons are not seeing massive competition from Astra, mainly because they bought 2 or 3 of their best players. They have won 5 and drawn 2, and look very handy whilst strong at the back.
Poli Timisoara are bottom, with their points deduction not helping – but either way they have shipped 20 goals in 7 games and with the best team in the league coming to town…it might get worse before it gets better!
Helsingborg vs Norrkoping: Norrkoping Win + Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/4 (Swedish Allsvkenskan, 1400 KO)
Norrkoping are a very high scoring side – often scoring 3 or more and are having a very interesting battle with Malmo for the title, which they currently hold.
Helsingborg are on a very poor run – losing 7 of their last 10 games, and 5 home games in a row! Some of the scores have been along the line of 3-1, 3-2 or 4-2 – so as you can see they concede a fair few (over 40 this season) and score a few too.
Norrkoping have been winning well of late, including a 3-0 win against the same side a few months ago, while also winning 5-1, 4-1 and 4-0 in their last 5 games. With Nyman, Kujovic and Andersson scoring 24 between them, they have a strong forward line that should take advantage of a poor defence. Weather it’s 3-0 or 2-1, I think they will win.
NAP: Real Madrid -1 @ 6/5
Double: Real Madrid -1 @ 6/5 + Steaua Bucharest -1 @ 1/1 = 3.5/1
