An incredible result yesterday…JJK managed their worst result of the season, and a red card – in a 5-0 loss to 8th placed KTP. Gobsmacked! Really shaking my head right now as I’ve no idea how I’m managing to pick these games that go so wrong!
NAC obliged and won 2-1, but the damage was done. Back to basics, and what I did at the back end of the 14/15 season – 4 picks, rated from 1-4 and a NAP, double, treble and accumulator suggested to give those reading a variety of options:
Millwall vs Nottingham Forest: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 (1945 KO)
Phillipe Montanier has already suggested he will make changes for this game, and that reflects in the odds – they are 5/2 outsiders for the game – up against high scoring Millwall who have netted 12 in 5 games so far this season, conceding 8.
Forest are high scorers too – involved in a couple of 4-3 classics in the league so far – so that’s a total of 10 scored and 12 conceded in 5 games – averaging over 4 goals per game! As mentioned I’m expecting both teams to make changes, no Assombalonga for the away side but the likes of Oliver Burke will be a threat throughout.
Scunthorpe vs Bristol City: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4 (1945 KO)
I’ve watched Bristol City on the weekend vs Newcastle and they looked very handy! Strong at the back – Aden Flint in particular a rock, while going forward they were unlucky to come up against some first class defending – dominated the league favourites!
Scunthorpe have started well – scoring 14 goals in their opening 5 games – including a massive 5-0 win over Gillingham! Both I’d say are evenly matched, with a slight tilt towards the Championship side. Expecting plenty of goals!
Stevenage vs Stoke: Stoke -1 Goal Handicap @ 11/8 (1945 KO)
Stevenage have had an unspectacular start – two wins, a draw and two losses. Fair few conceded, but they did beat Ipswich in the cup, so there’s no reason to completely write them off.
Stoke on the other hand have played two, and been pretty uninspiring. A 4-1 loss to a brilliant Man City side, and a 1-1 draw with a defensively sound Middlesbrough. I feel we may see some changes – the likes of Muniesa, Charlie Adam and Jonathan Walters are likely to feature which should shake things up. Shaqiri is likely to miss the game, and add to the injury list of Ireland, Butland, Johnson and Afellay.
I do believe though that Stoke should have too much for Stevenage.
Newcastle vs Cheltenham: Mitrovic to Score A/T + Newcastle Win @ 11/10 (1945)
This price is from William Hill – 365 don’t have Mitrovic on their site at the moment!
(*Edit – Bet365 have now priced him @ 21/20 to score anytime – so go with either)
The big Serbian returns after a 4 game ban and has lost a few stone over the summer, and comes back fitter and stronger! He is a bully – pure and simple, and will not be put off by a League Two centre back pairing. He is very good in the air and often takes penalties.
A pure nutter. First game back, should be starting in order to rest Dwight Gayle – I think he will score a couple potentially and they will win 2/3-0 in my opinion.
NAP: 1 @ 6/5
Double: 1 + 2 @ 4/1
Treble: 1-3 @ 10/1
Accumulator: All Tips @ 23/1 (William Hill)
Best of luck!
