4/5 last week, Middlesbrough left it late to score twice and Derby didn’t have a lot of time to respond with a goal of their own. Hopefully there was Profit in a variation of multiples or singles for some of you. FA Cup weekend this weekend which is always pretty crazy and unpredictable, but four selections I’m confident in!
‘At a Glance’
Peterborough V Preston @ 4/5
Sheffield Wednesday V Fulham @ 4/5
Arsenal V Sunderland @ 21/20
Swindon V Southend @ 10/13
Peterborough V Preston @ 4/5 (15:00 KO, English FA Cup)
Peterborough have been formidable in front of goal this season scoring 52 goals in League one, what makes them possibly my favorite team in the world this year is the fact they have also conceded 38 which in this market is like finding gold in your nostrils. They come up against a Preston side who sit 15th in the Championship with 21 goals scored and 22 goals conceded. Although as in any cup competition there is never a certainty, you would hope Preston have enough firepower to go out and dominate a side sitting 5th in the league below. Peterborough’s stats speak for themselves they are capable of scoring against this Preston side and as previously mentioned Preston will have no doubt they can win this.
Sheffield Wednesday V Fulham @ 4/5 (15:00 KO, English FA Cup)
These two teams met last weekend in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday taking three points in a 0-1 win, which isn’t the most ideal previous meeting when selecting for BTTS. This one though should have goals Fulham are the Championship’s Peterborough with 40 goals scored (League’s highest) and 43 conceded (again League’s highest), whilst Sheffield Wednesday have scored 36 and conceded 28. Before the meeting with Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham had scored in eight of their previous nine games only failing away at Forest. Sheffield Wednesday notably have only failed to score in three of their last 11 matches, against Middlesbrough, Derby and Brighton – All teams who are notoriously tough to break down.
Arsenal V Sunderland @ 21/20 (15:00 KO, English FA Cup)
Arsenal are top of the Premier League and are playing some tremendous football! Especially at home, their overall goals scored tally is currently 34 whilst they have conceded 18. Sunderland are at the other end of the table sitting second from bottom, So far this season they have scored 22 and conceded 39. Sunderland are coming off the back of a tidy 3-1 in a must win game against bottom club Aston Villa, and will be feeling confident with their attacking options. Arsenal scoring at home against a club who have already conceded 39 doesn’t really need explaining, but its worth taking into account that they have a game away at Liverpool in the Premier league to follow on Wednesday night so there will be questions around Wenger’s selections for an FA Cup fixture. Sunderland have managed to score in six of their last eight games including a 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates. Jermaine Defoe netted twice against Aston Villa at the weekend, and would have had a hat-trick had it not been for a poor offside decision so he will be looking to continue that form.
Swindon V Southend @ 10/13 (15:00 KO, English League 1)
Swindon have scored 33 goals and conceded 39, Southend have scored 31 and conceded 30. Swindon have managed to score in eight of their last 10 games in League one failing to score away at Wigan and away at Burton. Southend have managed to score in six of their last nine games Failing to score against; Wigan, Millwall and Doncaster. Back in August Swindon took three points away from home in this fixture with a 0-1 win. In terms of the League table Southend are the stronger side and should be fairly confident heading into the fixture, Especially given the fact that Swindon have kept very, very few clean sheets. Swindon are by no means a push over and know they are capable of scoring almost anywhere in this league as is proven by the stats.
At the above prices the selections as a fourfold pays roughly 11/1.
Best of Luck
