Matchday 2 in the Champions League – and the final set before the end of September and the next set of Internationals that are coming up after this weekend. Goalscorer tips have been posted a little earlier – this is my four-fold for the next two days of Champions League action:
(1) Leicester vs Porto: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/5 (Tuesday, 1945 KO)
Leicester are looking good going forward, but without Kante to sweep just in front of the back four, they are looking a little shaky in defence. Kasper Schmeichel is likely to miss out, while Ahmed Musa is in contention to start after being displaced by Islam Slimani. Porto are a handy outfit, and with Laurent Depoitre signing for them over the summer, I think they will be a handful for the Foxes and one that they won’t be able to keep at bay.
(2) Monaco vs Leverkusen: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 (Tuesday, 1945 KO)
Monaco opened up with a 2-1 win over Spurs, while Leverkusen drew 2-2 with CSKA Moscow. The home side are scoring a lot of goals so far this season, but are also leaking them in equal proportions – 3-2 win against Mainz on the weekend, whilst 6 of their 7 games in all competitions this season have ended with this bet winning. Monaco are similar, winning all but one game this season, including a 3-1 win over PSG. They do however concede nearly a goal per game.
This one should be an end-to-end game – and very entertaining.
(3) Celtic vs Man City: Man City Over 2.5 Team Goals @ 1/1 (Wednesday, 1945 KO)
Man City are in excellent form – winning Pep Guardiola’s first 10 games in charge and scoring a tonne of goals! Sergio Aguero is in fine form, while Raheem Sterling is back to somewhere near his best. Celtic are easing towards another title in the SPL, but when they come up against even a half decent side outside of Scotland they suffer – and against City, I can see the same thing happening again. 3 goals for a City side with Aguero, Sterling and Sane as a front three – I’d think so!
(4) Besiktas vs Dynamo Kyiv: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4 (Wednesday, 1945 KO)
Both of these sides are very good on the front foot, but a little iffy at the back – Besiktas’ last 3 home games have had plenty of goals, ending 2-2, 3-1 and 4-1. Kyiv are in a similar boat – having lost Dragovic they have not been quite the side they were, losing to Zorya on 2 weeks ago, while also conceding to Stal Kamianske – a new team to the Ukrainian league.
Both will fancy this as a potential 3 points, and the most winnable they will have in the group. Always a more open type of game when that is the case!
As an accumulator, this pays around the 25/1 mark, while my preferred double is Man City Over 2.5 @ 1/1 and Monaco-Leverkusen BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 – which together is around 3.5/1.
