Football Tips // Euro 2016 // Week 1 Accumulator

So – finally we are here! The Euro 2016 Championships start tomorrow, and although I will be posting tips each day, I will also be posting an accumulator for each set of group games. The first set cover dates between 11th and 14th, and what has struck me is that the bookies expect few goals – but this time there are 8 more teams, a lot more unknowns and smaller sides looking to upset the applecart!

BTTS, and or Over 2.5 is minimum of Evens in most games, so BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals is between 8/5 and 12/5…a lot of value about, and with friendlies meaning so little these days most of what I’m going to say over the course of the next month is pure opinion. Here’s my first accumulator:

Wales vs Slovakia: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/5 (Saturday 11th June – Group B, 1700 KO)

With England and Russia the favourites to qualify, this game is vital as to who might well get a best 3rd place route through to the next round. Slovakia operate best when they are the underdogs, and at 11/10 to Qualify they are the outsiders. For me, they are a better team that Wales, and given Wales recent 3-0 thrashing by Sweden – there are clearly issues. Bale will supply most of their threat, both from open play and set pieces. Slovakia have multiple threatening players – Weiss, Mak, Stoch all very quick and direct, while their back four is hardly in good form, but leaking goals nicely for us.

Slovakia have done well of late, beating Germany 3-1, Iceland 3-1, 3-1 vs Georgia, 3-2 vs Switzerland and 4-2 vs Luxembourg, as well as a 2-2 draw with Ireland. It’s clear they can score goals for fun, but have issues at the back. Wales had a relatively easy group and were tough to break down – but at a big tournament they may well crack. I think this will be a good game and a potential high scoring affair

Austria vs Hungary: Austria -1 Goal Handicap @ 7/4 (Tuesday 14th June – Group F 1700 KO)

Austria are my outsider for the competition @ 40/1, and with a talented squad I think they should roll Hungary over by a couple of goals. With Alaba likely to play in midfield, Junuzovic an impressive figure and the likes of Wimmer and Dragovic in defence – I think they will stretch the Hungarians and eventually break them down.

Poland v Northern Ireland: Poland -1 Goal Handicap @ 7/4 (Sunday 12th June – Group C, 1700 KO)

Poland are a strong team and likely to be too much for Ireland to handle. The debutants had a fairly easy group, and despite the fact they are unbeaten since March 2015 I think that Poland’s better quality will get them through this game. I see a 2/3-0 win. Not much else to say on this!

Germany vs Ukraine: BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 8/5 (Sunday 12th June – Group C, 2000 KO)

Germany have struggled defensively of late, conceding in 8 of their last 10 as well as scoring in the same number. Ukraine have been in good form, rarely losing in the last 2 years. With Yarmolenko & Konoplyanka causing mayhem down the wings, and 2-3 good finishers in the squad such as Seleznyov – I fancy Ukraine to cause the Germans a few problems!

Overall this pays 65/1!

Best of luck
