The season begins for many leagues this weekend, and although it is going to be a little tougher for a while, it also provides better value as there is little to go off in terms of stats.
In the Europa bet last in midweek, just 2/6 – but in the Rio Ave/Jagiellonia match, Rio Ave were so much better but failed to score, whilst Trencin-Gornik was end to end but many missed chances. AIK were also very wasteful in their game, which ended 1-0.
For this weekend, we’ve picked out 6 Over 2.5 Goals bets, paying just over 50/1.
4 matches Saturday, 2 Sunday:
Honka-HJK: Over 2.5 Goals @ 19/20 (Saturday, 1500 KO)
The Finnish season has been going a while now, and these two are in the top three and have a great record against each other in terms of goals. Their last 4 meetings have gone over 2.5, with results of 2-1, 3-2, 2-1 and 3-2, both sides winning at least 1 each.
Carl Zeis-Jena vs Sonnenhof: Over 2.5 Goals @ 43/40 (Saturday, 1300)
First game of the season in the Bundesliga III, but both had records that were in the top 6 last season in terms of Over 2.5 Goals. 43/30 a very good price, both have iffy defensive records and concede plenty of goals, but equally on their day score 2-3 goals.
Kortrijk vs Anderlecht: Over 2.5 Goals @ 13/20 (1700 KO, Saturday)
Kortrijk had a 25/15 record last season and have maintained most of their squad, only strengthening in key areas. Anderlecht have done some fab business – adding Zakaria Bakkali from Valencia, Dimata from Wolfsburg and kept Lukasz Teodorczyk who scored so many goals for them. Defensively however they are still poor, conceding a lot in pre-season.
Jablonec vs Sparta Prague: Over 2.5 Goals @ 23/20 (1700 KO, Sunday)
Sparta have lost much of what made them oh so successful over the years. Down to 3rd last season, with rivals Slavia above them and Plzen the same. If you look back at the 2nd half of the season, they won once away from home, while Jablonec were terrific at home – winning 10 of 15 games. Prague offensively look decent – some very good players, but defensively are worrying which is all the better for the betting.
Lok Zagreb vs Zapresic: Over 2.5 Goals @ 19/20 (1730 KO, Saturday)
I found the Croatian league to be one of the best for goals last season, and Zapresic were one of the best teams for it – a record of 22/14, the joint best in the league. Zagreb had a positive record, and against each other, 3 of their last 4 have gone over 2.5, the other finishing 1-1. Evenly matched, should be a decent game.
Gornik Zabrze vs Plock: Over 2.5 Goals @ 21/20 (1430 KO, Sunday)
Gornik were one of the best in Poland for goals last season, with a 22-8 record. Against Plock, results of 1-0, 4-0 and 4-2. Plock had a 50/50 record. Gornik are the better team, but I think with them playing in the Europa League it’ll make the match a little more even.
Best of luck
