The weekend bet ended early again, with a red card in the Wolves/Leicester game early in the second half turning the game into a defensive one, with Wolves unable to break down a stubborn Leicester defence.
We ended with 4/6 – West Ham/Bournemouth ending 1-2, Aluminij-Rudar 3-0, Ljubljana-Maribor 0-3 and Sociedad/Villarreal 2-1, with Zlin-Teplice a 1-0 borefest.
This midweek brings the final round of Europa and Champions League Qualifying rounds, as well as a round of domestic games in England. I’ve picked 6 that span Tuesday-Friday.
First game is 1945 Tues, the last 1945 Friday night:
Cambridge vs Exeter: Over 2.5 Goals @ 1/1 (1945 KO, Tuesday)
Cambridge have had a good start in this market, 3/3 in the league and 1/1 in the cup – both scoring and conceding plenty with scores of 1-4, 3-2, 2-2 and 3-0 – a mix of wins, losses and draws. Exeter have scored 6 and conceded 2, as well as a 1-1 in the cup – but with their attack I think they will fare well in this – whilst Cambridge could well also score.
Young Boys vs Din Zagreb: Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 (2000 KO, Wednesday)
Young Boys have had 5 games thus far in league and cup, won all 5 and scored at least 2 in every game, conceded a few but generally looked good. Zagreb have had a few rounds in the Champions League already – beaten Astana and Hapoel Beer Sheva relatively comfortably. This will be a massive step up for them, against a lethal side in Young Boys.
Trencin vs AEK Lanarca: Over 2.5 Goals @ 19/20 (1800 KO, Thursday)
Trencin are one of my favourite sides to back in this market, and the last round they knocked out a handy Feyenoord side, after a 4-0 opening leg. In 10 games thus far, 38 goals – 25 scored, 13 conceded – and most games going Over 2.5, or at least BTTS. AEK have had 4 legs so far, a 0-0 vs Dundalk and then wins of 2-0, 4-0 and 5-0. I don’t think however they’ve faced anyone offensively as good as Trencin.
Dudelange vs CFR Cluj: Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4 (1900 KO, Thursday)
Dudelange are a strange one. Horrendously big outsiders vs Legia, yet came through fairly comfortably! Cluj are in great form so far, winning their last 5 games including 2 vs Alashkert, winning 7-0 on aggregate. They are a high scoring side, but with Dudelange’s record of shocks in recent games, I wouldn’t put it past them to score at least one!
Partizan vs Besiktas: Over 2.5 Goals @ 1/1 (1900 KO, Thursday)
Besiktas scraped through on away goals vs LASK, 2-2 on Aggregate – but against stronger opposition this time they might not be so lucky. Partizan have come through 3 ties, 6 legs and had 17 goals – including 3-2 and 2-1 wins over Nordsjaelland and 3-0/3-0 wins over Rudar. Certainly Besiktas’ biggest test yet – and given they have such a quality front line of Quaresma, Babel & Larin (or Vagner Love/Negredo) I think it could be a high scoring game.
West Brom vs Middlesbrough: Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 (1945 KO, Friday)
Both sides offensively good, but defensively I think both teams will fancy scoring against each other. WBA scored 7 on the weekend, and 2’s, 3’s and 4’s so far this season, while Boro conceded 3 in the Cup even with a strong side out. They’ve scored 2’s and 3’s vs Br City/Sheff Utd, but drew 2-2 with Millwall so frailties certainly there to be seen. Gayle/Rodriguez lead the line for WBA, while the likes of Braithwaite and Assombalonga are the main threats for Boro.
Overall, around the 55/1 mark – some Evens or higher prices in there but if this season is anything to go by so far, those are the ones that win and the odds on matches end up 1-0…
Best of luck
