1/2 yesterday – Hafnarfjordur went 1-0 down straight away but levelled, only to score 2 more just after half time which messed the double up. City won 3-0, so that bet landed.
Today we have the Capital One Cup 1st Round – and there looks to be a few mis-matches between Championship and League 1/2 clubs. I’d think all these teams are taking the competition seriously at this stage, and squads will be fresh as it’s only the 2nd game of the season – so no rested players. Here are my Tips:
1. Birmingham City Win @ 23/20 Bristol Rovers (1945 KO NAP)
A close friend is a season ticket holder at Bristol Rovers, and told me the other day that they would not beat Birmingham’s reserves yet alone their first team. Rovers have a decent team, but I don’t think they will stand a chance tonight. Birmingham have some very good players – Demarai Gray will be a threat, while there may be a few changes – most of Saturday’s side will appear.
2. Burnley Win @ 10/11 vs Port Vale (1945 KO)
Burnley have a very good squad – and will be up there in the Championship this season. Port Vale are among the favourites to go down in League 1, and have a very poor squad. I seriously doubt they will be taking this seriously as they will need all the points they can in the league this season. Very good price!
3. Hull -1 Goal Handicap @ 7/5 vs Accrington (1945 KO)
Hull have an incredibly good squad for the championship. Akpom is likely to start – I think no matter what side they put out they will put 3/4 past Accrington, who like Port Vale are one of the top picks to go down. Should be pretty cut and dried.
4. Sheff Utd Win @ 10/11 vs Morecambe (1945 KO)
Sheffield Utd have one of the best squads in League One, and are playing an average mid-table side from League Two. For me there will be no competition here, 10/11 quite a good price
I’m fairly confident of this – the double is 3/1, while the Accumulator is 17/1.
Personally I’ve done this, and then added a different market. I’ve done Birmingham Win to Nil @ 3/1, Burnley Win to Nil @ 2/1, Sheff Utd HT-FT @ 21/10 as well as adding Brighton (6/5), Gillingham (9/5) and Fulham + Over 2.5 (29/20) – for a total price of 650/1, so if you fancy a big bet – that is my recommendation.
Best of luck
