Yesterday was so nearly appalling, with a score of 0/4 saved by Gillingham late on. Chelsea/Kyiv had so many chances, but was the only goalless game, no idea how! One other game finished 1-1, but overall still poor.
Today I am going back to a safer double, and despite trying to avoid the BTTS + Over 2.5 market, I’ve still found myself backing it in both bets after reading team news on the two games I’m tipping on:
1. Real Madrid-PSG BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/10 (Champions League, 1945 KO)
Both sides are unbeaten this season, with Real winning 7/10 and PSG 11/13. Originally I liked Real DNB @ 11/10 but after reading the team news and finding that Bale, Pepe and James Rodriguez are out, along with Modric and Benzema being 50/50 – it would be senseless to do that. PSG are not without their own wounded, with Matuidi, Verratti, Di Maria and Trapp unfit/have knocks after the internationals – but with both in-form strikers in Cavani and Ibra playing, you’d fancy them to score.
Real are likely to start with Kovacic and Jese in place of Modric/Bale, with Denis Cheryshev still largely untrusted by Rafa, despite being a very good player and likely to star for Russia next summer in the Euro’s. The interesting matchup this time around will be Ronaldo vs Aurier, with the latter in fine form this season, but will come up against the best he has played in his career, more than likely. That will be a battle that decides the game – if Ronaldo can get the better of him, I feel he will bag a goal or two, but if Aurier keeps him tucked in his back pocket, Ibra will do the rest. Varane + Ramos will have it all to do, but either way I think there will be goals. Benzema is key – if he does not start then Real will be without two of their three most potent weapons – and for me my second tip for this game rests on just that – Real Madrid Win + BTTS @ 5/1, but I’d certainly wait to see the teams!
2. CSKA Moscow-Man Utd BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5 (Champions League, 1945 KO – NAP)
Man Utd, away from home that is – struggle. Their win at Everton was one of few they have looked convincing in away from Old Trafford, however with 4 wins in 7 away they are slight favourites, and with 13 scored + 9 conceded, a little leaky at the back. Rooney and Mata are finding their feet, while there are a few walking wounded – Schweinsteiger is doubtful and Young/McNair are both out. Martial is likely to start again – who is looking an astute buy, even for £35m.
CSKA are a very dangerous side, especially on home soil. However, they too leak goals, with 16 in their last 10 overall, and 14 in their last 10 home games – including 4 against Mordovia, whom they eventually beat 6-4. Firepower is their strength after Doumbia returned on loan from Roma, and add Ahmed Musa and that’s a dangerous duo! BTTS + Over 2.5 has come in in 7 of their last 10 home games, while 5/10 for Man Utd. This could easily be a 4-5 goal thriller, but with Smalling looking better with each game, and forming a nice partnership with Phil Jones, and adding in Darmian and the ever-present De Gea – I’m fancying a Man Utd win, but given CSKA’s array of attacking talent, such as ex-Man Utd man Zoran Tosic, and Alan Dzagoev – Man Utd Win + BTTS @ 4/1 is a fab price!
Double 1: 1 + 2 (Both Games BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals) – 3.7/1
Double 2: Real Madrid Win + BTTS @ 5/1 + Man Utd Win + BTTS @ 4/1 – 30/1
Like mentioned – I’d certainly wait to see the Real Madrid team, and if Benzema and Modric do not make it, BTTS + Draw @ 10/3 is a good replacement, which would take it down to 20/1.
Best of luck
