Hopefully at this point the Grand National bets are going your way. This weekend is looking a little more organised than the last, where my preview was not up until early Saturday morning. Last weekend we managed 8/10 again, with Cadiz and Ajax blowing quite big accumulators, with an additional 3/6 on my 300/1 accumulator, again Ajax blowing that – Bayern not scoring as many as hoped either.
This weekend see’s the majority of games on our shores in Britain, with the odd Scottish selection. The other games cover Belgium, Spain and Germany – so not small leagues this week as with previous weeks – a note on one or two of our reviews on Tipsters Review suggested we should say which league the games are in to help find them when placing bets – so we have taken it onboard and are now doing as such.
1. Crystal Palace Win @ 7/4 (Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 2/1) vs Sunderland (English PL, 1500 KO, Saturday)
For any of you that had the misfortune to watch the tyne-wear derby, you will see that Newcastle made Sunderland look very good. Other than this game every year they are poor the vast majority of the time, and may well be fortunate that there are 2/3 teams a lot worse than them otherwise they would be/could be in huge trouble. Palace have won 4/5 overall and away from home (their away form is actually better than the home form) while Sunderland have lost 3/5 overall, and 2/5 at home, but won just 2. Palace have racked up the goals recently, even putting 2 past Man City on Monday night – this could well be my value NAP this weekend!
2. Real Betis Win @ Evens (-1 Goal Handicap @ 12/5) vs Barcelona B (Spanish Segunda, 1600 KO Sunday)
Barca B are pretty terrible – they are very good on the attack, with the likes of Dongou and Halilovic, but have nothing at the back. Often concede 3/4/5 goals a game, and rarely win. Both home and overall they have not won in 5 games, with 3 draws and 2 losses – but when facing the better teams like Betis – they get hammered. Betis have won 4/5 overall, and won 2/5 away, with 3 draws (a couple of tougher games). I’m expecting an easy 2/3-0 win, hence -1 goal @ 12/5 being great value!
3. Wolfsburg Win @ Evens vs Hamburg (Germany Bundesliga, 1730 KO, Saturday)
Wolfsburg, despite such a good side, have suffered in recent months thanks to the Europa League – the game after they have usually been rather poor, and drawn/lost. After an international break, and a midweek free of European football, I’m expecting them to wipe the floor with Hamburg, who have lost 4 of their last 5 league games, and won just 1/5 at home (2 draws, 2 losses). Wolfsburg have won 3/5 overall, and 2/5 away with two draws. In the 3 meetings in 2014, Wolfsburg won all 3.
4. Bielefeld Win @ 5/4 vs Dresden (Germany Bundesliga III, 1300 KO, Saturday)
Bielefeld top the league as we speak, currently flying back into the Bundesliga II. Form has not been amazing recently, with a few games against some tough opposition, but I think they will beat Dresden Saturday lunchtime with ease and verve. Dresden have won 4/5 overall, and 4/5 at home – and to be fair they have not faced anyone too good (in the top 3/4 teams). Bielefeld won 3-0 last time out I believe, and have won 3 of their last 5 games in the league, just 2/5 away with a few draws. Good odds, should win!
5. Lommel Utd @ 6/5 vs Antwerp (Belgian Pro League, 1900 KO, Saturday)
Lommel have won 5/5 overall recently, and 3/5 away from home, where they are this weekend. Antwerp are a good opposition, who they have beaten on numerous occasions recently – and they have won 3/5 overall and 2/5 at home, with two losses. This will be a tough game, but I think their quality will shine through.
6. Watford Win @ 4/5 (-1 Goal Handicap @ 9/5) vs Millwall (SkyBet Championship, 1500 KO, Saturday)
Watford are getting stronger right when it matters – in Deeney and Ighalo, as well as Vydra they have 3 classy forwards who will bag a tonne of goals at this level, against opposition like Millwall, who have been awful in recent months. The Hornets have won 3/5 overall, and 3/5 away, with 2 draws. Millwall have won just 1/5 both home and overall, with 2 draws and 2 losses in both sets of form. Norwich are a similar team to Watford, and they beat Millwall by 3/4 goals a few weeks back. Tomorrow, I’m expecting similar. -1 goal handicap is great value @ 9/5
7. Arsenal Win @ 8/11 vs Burnley (English PL, 1730 KO, Saturday)
Arsenal have won 5/5 overall in the league, and 4/5 away – a loss to Spurs the only blip. Sanchez is getting back to where he was before Christmas, Giroud is on fire, Ozil is back, Cazorla is looking good – it’s all looking good for Wenger’s men! Burnley have been good recently, but still losing. They have lost 3 in 5 games recently, and won just 1 at home in their last 5. Arsenal won 3-0 last time out – you wouldn’t like to back Win to Nil, or even -1 as Burnley, like against City or Southampton – could have one of those games where they have a stormer. The win is enough value @ 8/11.
8. MK Dons Win @ 5/6 (-1 Goal @ 2/1) vs Port Vale (SkyBet League 1, 1500 KO, Saturday)
In Delle Ali, MK probably have one of, if not the best player in the league, and he’s 18. They have look brilliant recently, with 4 wins from 5 overall and 3 from 5 away from home. Port Vale on the other hand look awful, and have lost 5/5 overall and 4/5 at home. 5/6 looks delightful value for the win, but -1 even better @ 2/1!
9. Middlesbrough Win @ 1/2 vs Rotherham (SkyBet Championship, 1500 KO, Saturday)
Boro, like Watford, Norwich and Bournemouth – are fighting for the title. The top of the table changes weekly, with the likes of Derby falling away recently. Boro have won 3/5 overall, but 4/5 at home, while Rotherham and their increasingly frustrated manager have won just 1/5 overall and away – so relegation a real possibility!
10. Celtic Win @ 1/2 vs Inverness CT (SPL, 1245 KO, Saturday)
Celtic have won 5/5 overall, and 5/5 away from home in what is quite a poor standard of league. Inverness have lost 3/5 overall, but are unbeaten at home in 5, with 3 draws. Celtic usually win this fixture, but I and many others have been bitten too many times adding -1 or -2 thinking they will utterly dominate, which more often than not they do – keeping it to the win this weekend.
Tips will be up later on this evening, probably around 8pm. Until then, best of luck for the day’s betting – Grand National looks a cracker today…
