Transfer Window Update

So – we have just hit the first of July and the window is officially open. Transfers should start to flow, and many have already taken place and are rubber stamped when the window opens. From England, Germany, Spain and Italy – here is what has happened so far – fee’s are an estimate based on what has been said, with many being ‘Undisclosed’. A few have been seen in Euro’s, so I’m basing my estimates on the going rate at the moment:

It’s been very busy so far – a lot of money flowing. The biggest deals are these:

Nathaniel Clyne – Southampton to Liverpool (£12.5m), Memphis Depay – PSV to Man Utd (£25m), Pedro Obiang – Sampdoria to West Ham (Undisc), Juanmi – Malaga to Southampton (£6m), Gerard Delofeu – Barcelona to Everton (£4.7m), Tyrone Mings – Ipswich to Bournemouth (£8m), Roberto Firmino – Hoffenheim to Liverpool (£29m), Petr Cech – Chelsea to Arsenal (£10m), Dmitri Payet – Marseille to West Ham (£15m), Andre Ayew – Marseille to Swansea (Free), Kevin Wimmer – Koln to Tottenham (£3.5m), Matej Vydra – Udinese to Watford (Undisc), Cedric – Sporting Lisbon to Southampton (Undisc), Franck Tabanou – St Etienne to Swansea (Undisc), Danny Ings + James Milner – Burnley/Man City to Liverpool (Free)

Just a few big deals, with the majority of business to be done. With Barcelona banned from transfers at the moment, they cannot sign anyone, despite signing Aleix Vidal from Sevilla, he cannot play until January. Here’s the major deals:

Luciano Vietto – Villarreal to At Madrid (£14m), Jackson Martinez – Porto to At Madrid (£25m), Danilo – Porto to Real Madrid (£23m), Joao Cancelo, Andre Gomes + Rodrigo – Benfica to Valencia (£42.5m combined)

The latter treble deal was strange (ish) as it was Valencia owner Peter Lim who purchased 100% of the player rights to Andre Gomes and Rodrigo for the same fee’s, loaned them to Valencia (through his company). Obviously there would be trouble if 3rd party ownership of players went to Spain, so he has sold them outright to Valencia…iffy!

Both Milan clubs are trying to get back to where they used to be and have bought well so far! Juve have done so good deals, and after that nobody else has done a lot – here are 9 deals done by the clubs mentioned above:

Paolo Dybala – Palermo to Juventus (£21m), Mario Mandzukic – At Madrid to Juventus (£14.7m), Sami Khedira – Real Madrid to Juventus (Undisc), Roberto Pereyra – Udinese to Juventus (£14m), Geoffrey Kondogbia – Monaco to Inter (£25m), Miranda – At Madrid to Inter (£11m), Luiz Adriano – Shakhtar to AC Milan (£5m), Carlos Bacca – Sevilla to AC Milan (£23m), Andrea Bertolacci – Roma to AC Milan (£16m)

Again, very quiet so far with mainly loan returns – but one big theme is players taken from Switzerland and Austria, which is a natural route as you see the likes of Drmic, Barnetta, Xherdan Shaqiri, Valentin Stocker, Yann Sommer, Granit Xhaka and Ricardo Rodriguez. Here are the deals so far:

Douglas Costa – Shakhtar to Bayern (£21m), Thorgan Hazard – Chelsea to Monchengladbach (Undisc), Josip Drmic – Leverkusen to Monchengladbach, Andre Ramalho – Salzburg to Leverkusen (Undisc), Kyriakos Papadopolous – Schalke to Leverkusen (Undisc), Matija Nastasic – Man City to Schalke (Undisc), Johannes Geis – Mainz to Schalke (Undisc), Fabian Schar – Basel to Hoffenhaim (Undisc), Luc Castaignos – Twente to Frankfurt

So all in all some great transfers – I am looking forward to seeing the likes of Ramalho and Schar in Germany, Vietto at Atletico and then the likes of Costa and Luiz Adriano in Europe, both coming from Ukraine. Also hoping Yarmolenko follows, either to Italy or Germany as the Premier League will ruin him, as it does with many.
