We have taken a look at the weekends’ action and have come up with a small preview with some odds that may look good value at the moment. We have taken a look at all 10 Premier League games and a selection of games from each of the other leagues. Here’s our take on it all:
Aston Villa vs Newcastle: Both had differing fortunes last weekend – Villa snuck a 1-0 win over Stoke, while Newcastle put up a brilliant yet valliant performance against Man City, losing 2-0 despite having the best of the game. With Siem de Jong probably coming back in, the link up play between him, Riviere and Cabella could be improved, with Moussa Sissoko also having a key part to play. Villa are missing Benteke and a few others, are favourites, but 9/5 is top value on Newcastle to win.
Chelsea vs Leicester: Leicester made a good PL comeback after 10 years away, drawing at Everton. Chelsea on the other hand dominated against another new-boy, Burnley. They looked fantastic, though Burnley were pretty poor defensively. Chelsea should win this, -1 is value @ 4/7, and better price over Evens is Chelsea Win + 4 or more match goals @ 6/4.
Southampton vs West Brom: Both made decent starts – Southampton lost narrowly to Liverpool, but new signing Dusan Tadic shone, and Ward-Prowse and Clyne did well too. WBA drew with Sunderland, but Saido Berahino scored a brace and looks a top prospect. This one should be full of goals – we like BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4
C Palace vs West Ham: Palace lost narrowly to Arsenal, but looked decent. West Ham on the other hand were a man up for nearly 45 minutes and could not take advantage of this against Spurs, who eventually scored via Eric Dier’s debut goal. Both could provide a cagey game – possibly a one-goal game. Under 2.5 Goals is 1/2, but Under 1.5 goals is 13/8. With no Jason Puncheon I forsee a very tight game with lack of quality at both ends not helping. Under 0.5 first half goals is 6/4.
Swansea vs Burnley: Swansea started well against Man Utd, winning 2-1…with old-boy Gylfi Sigurdsson taking off where he left off a couple of years ago. Burnley on the other hand got the first goal against Chelsea but it all went downhill from there. We like Swansea Win + Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 29/20 as well as HT-FT @ 8/5.
Everton vs Arsenal: It’s hard to judge these two so early on. Arsenal struggled against Besiktas and early on against Crystal Palace, and Everton drew 2-2 with Leicester. Draw + BTTS is at a good price of 3/1, or you can get the draw at 5/2, though I cannot see it ending 0-0. For those expecting goals – BTTs + Over 2/5 is Evens.
Hull vs Stoke: This is usually a dull game – I’m not expecting many goals to be fair, although if I were to hedge then maybe Stoke + Under 2.5 goals @ 8/5. Bojan score + Stoke win is also greatly priced @ 6/1. Hull lost away to Lokern last night, though a few players were rested. Teams tend to struggle after a Europa League tie, hence my pick of Stoke, if not 0-0.
Tottenham vs QPR: This should be interesting. Harry Redknapp’s first visit to White Hart Lane since his sacking. Even with Remy they look pretty toothless, so we like Spurs Win to Nil @ 11/8. Score Both Halves is also a good bet @ 23/20.
Sunderland vs Man Utd: Will we see a reaction from Van Gaal’s men? Sunderland looked awful defensively against West Brom, with tackling in and around the box pretty dreadful. We like Man Utd Win + Over 2.5 Match Goals @ 6/4
Liverpool vs Man City: Monday nights’ game is a clash of last season’s top 2. Both look suspect in defence – Newcastle walked straight through the midfield and defence many times in the 2nd half of last sunday’s game, similar with Southampton at Liverpool – Dusan Tadic had a lot of joy finding holes in the Reds’ defence. I like BTTS first half @ 10/3, and BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ Evens
Wolves vs Cardiff: The Welsh side are unbeaten so far, and look good. Wolves on the other hand are indifferent. 2/1 on Cardiff looks a top price, even double chance is around 8/11 which I think is a banker!
N Forest vs Reading: Forest have started very well, having made some astute signings such as Assombalonga and selling Darlow and Lascellas to Newcastle but getting them back on loan. They look a good solid side, against a Reading team who leak goals. Evens at home is incredible value.
Watford vs Leeds: The Hornets have made a good start to the season under Sannino, whereas Leeds have not, under Hockaday. This game should have goals in it – BTTS + Over 2.5 looks a good bet @ 5/4.
Derby vs Fulham: The Cottagers have struggled to adapt to the 2nd tier of English football in the first 3 games with the likes of Mitruglu and Ruiz not featuring yet. I Quite like BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4.
Barnsley vs Gillingham: The Gills are in brilliant form at the moment, and Barnsley are indifferent. Draw or Win is Evens, Win Either Half is 29/20.
Fleetwood vs Chesterfield: The home side, fresh from promotion, are flying high. Chesterfield, another promoted team, are faring well too. Another game we like in terms of BTTS + Over 2.5 @ 23/20.
Bradford vs Peterborough: Both are in great form and sitting in the top 6. Should be full of goals! BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals is Evens, and Peterborough Win or Draw is 4/9
Accrington vs Luton: Luton have come up and are immediately looking like they could step up another league! They are in good form against an Accrington side who are struggling. 7/5 for the win is value, and Race to 2 goals looks a good bet @ 7/4.
Newport vs Burton: The Welsh side sit bottom of League 2, with 0 points so far. Burton on the other hand are 2nd, with three wins from three. 7/5 for the win looks good, maybe one goal only – they have won two of the three by one goal so far.
Northampton vs Shrewsbury: The Shrews have won two and drawn one so far, scoring at least two goals in each game. We really like Race to 2 Goals @ 2/1!
Cambridge vs Morecambe: The away side are 11/5 to win, and in great form – Win or Draw is around Evens, and BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals is 6/5.
Chester vs Halifax: The away side have won 3/3 so far, and look very good. You can get Race to 2 @ 5/4 and just a win @ 6/5. Chester have been pretty dyer so far.
Nuneaton vs Barnet: Nuneaton are currently occupying a place in the bottom three, and look dreadful after losing a couple of key players. Barnet look good, scoring 5 last week, and sit in the top 6. Race to 2 @ 8/5 is good value, as is 23/20 for the win.
Dover vs Eastleigh: Eastleigh came up and have strengthened massively, with them being one of the bookies favourites go up again. Again Race to 2 is a good price @ 8/5, the win being around 11/10.
Dartford vs Torquay: Had Hereford and Salisbury not had financial issues, both Dartford and Chester would have gone down. Dartford have not started so well, and neither have Torquay, but we feel this weekend they will find their feet. 11/10 to win.
Later we have a look at the European Football going on..worth a look!
