As I type this, the day has started well. Sarajevo are 3-0 up after 70 minutes in the first of the day’s 4 tips. We now move towards the weekend – this being my pre-weekend article outlining the 10 likely selections for Saturday and Sunday. This should be a better weekend than the last, with teams often struggling in the aftermath of the international break.
Here are my 10 tips:
1. Real Madrid-Granada: BTTS + Under/Over 2.5 Goals – No + Over 2.5 @ 6/5
This bet effectively means one team has to win 3-0 or better. With Real being 1/16 on to win this game, you’d think it would be a struggle to find value – but for me this provides an excellent chance. Real won 9-1 and 4-0 in the last two – and having won 4-0, 5-0 and 6-0 in their last three games, you get the feeling their back four issues are starting to get sorted. Granada are very poor, and have started as such – you’d think they would not score against Real, and with the Galactico’s having most of the possession – 3 goals or more is also equally likely, especially as they put 13 past this side last season!
2. Forest Green Win @ 11/10 vs Macclesfield
Forest Green have started the season like a bat out of hell! 9 wins from 10 games, with their first loss coming the other day. Only scored 15/16 goals but only conceded 6 in the first 10. Macclesfield have lost 6 of their opening 10 fixtures. This game should have goals – in their last 5 meetings there has been 18 goals . Forest Green to win is a must though – excellent odds!
3. Gillingham Win @ 13/8 vs Colchester
The Gills have won 5 and drawn 2 of their opening 7 games, beating favourites Sheff Utd 4-0. They are top of the league and very confident. In Bradley Dack, they have one of the best midfielders in the league, and in Cody Macdonald – one of the best strikers. Colchester have struggled so far, conceding 15 in 7 games – and this should be their un-doing against a top side.
4. Spezia-Salernitana Over 2.5 Goals @ 7/5
These two sides are the top scoring duo in the Serie B so far, with 9 and 8 goals respectively. Salernitana have come up on the back of some excellent form, winning most games in their division last season. Spezia are an upper mid-table side, and with both clearly having defensive issues this could be a rare Italian game to go over 2.5 goals.
5. Mlada Boleslav-Teplice BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/4
These two are among the highest scorers in the league, both averaging over 3 goals per game after 6 fixtures, and averaging 4+ at home for Mlada, and away for Teplice. Recent meetings have not shown this market to be one that has happened a lot, but this time I think it should given the stats.
6. Torino-Sampdoria BTTS + Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/4
Similar to the Czech game, this is one with two high scorers. Both have well over 10 goals in their opening 3 fixtures, and even in either cup or friendly games both have gone well over 2.5 goals, with both scoring in those games too. Last season there was a couple of one-sided games, but with neither in Europe it should be a good game for the neutrals.
7. Schalke win @ 6/4 vs Stuttgart
Schalke have started the season well, winning half of their games – and after losing a couple of key members that’s not too bad. They have a very young, talented team which is mixed with a few more experienced players like Huntelaar. Even after losing Draxler to bitter rivals Wolfsburg – they are good in midfield – Max Meyer, Leon Goretzka and Johannes Geis provide the talent with all three likely to be German national team players in the next few years as all are immensely talented. Stuttgart have lost all four games so far, and have conceded on average 3 per game. Not looking good for them!
8. Fiorentina Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 1/1 vs Carpi
Fiorentina have had an average start, with a couple of wins followed by a loss. Not all bad for them, bar losing to Basel in the Europa league. They face newly promoted Carpi, who have struggled so far – conceding 9 in 3 games and at least 2 per game. Fiorentina played them over the summer and won 2-0 – and all combined is the big reason why we fancy Fioren to score 2 goals minimum in this one!
9. Dinamo Bucharest Draw No Bet @ 1/1 vs Botosani
Dinamo are at the right end of the table this season and doing well – just one loss in 10 games. Botosani are the polar opposite – 5 losses in 10 games with 1` win. Despite this, the odds are very much in their favour, which I think is all wrong. Dinamo may have drawn all their away games, but against a team this poor they could well win. Draw No Bet excellent safety @ 1/1!
10. Ajax HT-FT @ 6/5 vs Excelsior
Ajax are on our exclusive ‘list’ of teams who have let us down time and time again. However they are in very good form, with 4 wins in 5 games so far this season and they come up against a poor Excelsior team who have lost 3 of their 5 fixtures. They have the rub of the green in terms of previous results too, and having conceded so few and scored so many I’d have to include them based on form. If they let us down again though that is it! I will go all Liam Neeson on them!
When we post tips either later or tomorrow, full stats will be included and one side per day will be cut so it’s the usual 4 games.
Best of luck for the rest of today!
